Dear Friend/s of CCEC-Institute, Inc:
It’s TRUE! No matter how you look at it, CCEC-Institute IS APPEALING.
In 2006 the Institute launched a new education program to appeal to the diversity of Chatham’s population and to inform Chathamites about the operations of their local governments. Citizens’ College: How Government Works held two eleven week sessions in the Spring and Autumn of the year. It surpassed all expectations. Students and presenters alike sang its praises, and with one accord proclaimed this to be a MUST for all citizens Now, THAT’S APPEALING!
We thought from the start that it would be a winner. That’s why we applied for a grant to keep the ship afloat once we got up a full head of steam. But to quote those famous lines from the poet Robert Burns, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” We’ve just learned that the grant didn’t come through. We missed the boat. The granting agency likes the program and has encouraged us to reapply for the next cycle. We’ll do that, of course, but it won’t launch our next ship on time.
That’s why CCEC-Institute, Inc. is APPEALING… to YOU, dear friend. At this time of year when gifting is in he air, a spirit of good will prevails and the deadline for 2006 tax exempt donations draws nigh, we are APPEALING… to ALL our friends to help provide the steam to keep Citizens’ College afloat in 2007. We wish you could hear directly from each student about what a valuable and unique program this is. Each one would tell you how effective it is in accomplishing its goals of empowering citizens to understand how government works, and to increase their level of responsible citizenship.
Your year end contribution can keep Chatham’s special CITIZEN-ship from ending up in dry dock. We are telling you that the Institute’s Citizens' College program is APPEALING, and we are APPEALING to you to toss us a life preserver. Even a tiny toss can make a big splash. We hope you will be motivated to contribute monetarily. And because of the gifts of people like you, we hope to be able to urge you to consider becoming a student in the next session of Citizens’ College: How Government Works, scheduled tentatively for a mid-February launch.
