A guided tour
through the
inner workings
of our county
and municipal
governments…
Chatham
County… It’s OUR
HOME, and it’s
OUR GOVERNMENT.
As citizens it’s
OUR
RESPONSIBILITY
and it’s to OUR
ADVANTAGE to
better
understand how
government works
for us
individually and
as a community.
Knowledge is
power.

As part of its
mission to
“empower
citizens to
enhance
Chatham’s
future,” CCEC – Institute
provides Chatham
residents with a
unique education
opportunity to
get in touch
with the people
and programs
that drive our
county and town
governments.
It’s a “college”
that is open to
all residents of
the county to
better equip us
for our work of
responsible
citizenship.
Along the
“course” of the
seven week
journey:
-
We travel to
different
sites to
experience
where and
how the
various
parts of the
governmental
systems
work.
-
We interact
with our
elected and
appointed
leaders and
the support
staff that
manage and
operate our
government
day in and
day out.
-
We meet
diverse
neighbors
from across
the county
to learn
from one
another’s
experiences
and
cultures,
and to gain
shared
knowledge
from our
common
questions.
-
We grow
together to
build
stronger
bonds of
community,
and often
discover new
ways to
serve that
community
with our
skills and
abilities.
-
We leave
enriched by
the shared
journey,
enlightened
by our new
experiences
and
empowered to
use the
acquired
knowledge to
improve our
quality of
life and
that of our
neighbors.
